Getting Involved

Volunteering
Many volunteers assist as Docents, providing tours of the gardens for visitors. Others help in the Gardens, the Gift Shop, or the office. Many special projects also benefit from volunteer assistance. Various wood and bamboo substructures such as the bridges, the wooden lamp posts around the pond, the well, the main gate, and the fences that lead up to the gardens have all been restored with the help of volunteers like Bruce Heister.

Please contact our Events Coordinator to learn more about volunteer opportunities at 408 741-4994 or email us at Hakone@hakone.com.

Committees
Many dedicated members of the Hakone Community contribute by being involved in one of our committees. The volunteer efforts for the many art, cultural and garden programs and personal enrichment courses that are offered by Hakone have boosted the number and quality of programs we are able to offer. You are welcome and encouraged to join one of our committees.
